I should have known better…….

I  worked the first of 4 shifts [8 pm to 8 am] at the extreme weather shelter at Gateway Church. It is a long shift and it doesn’t pay a lot but it would be enough to pay off money owed so it looked like 2016 might end with me at least even.

I should have known better,,,,,,,

On my way home I was tired after a long night and managed to hit something  hard enough to take out both passenger side tires.

So it was suddenly looking like rather than even I would still be in the hole but at least a few hundreds of dollars ;less in the hole.

I cannot afford a phone so I asked to use my landlord’s since 2 flat tires and only q1 spare means the care isn’t going anywhere until I manage to replace the tires since they both have a fair sized hole in them, or find a spare that will fit a 4 bolt tire 2001 Ford Escort  wagon. I called Ward Draper of the % & 2 ministries who are running the shelter to ask if he could get me a ride to get to Gateway about 7:45.

Any thoughts of perhaps missing any shifts disappeared when the landlord handed me the bill for a window I had broke when my knee gave way and I fell against the side of the house.

$350.00 to replace a 2 foot by 3 foot window.

Suddenly it is looking like I will be lucky if I do not end up further in the hole.

When I considered leaving, going inside, pulling the covers over my head and not coming out I forced myself to make some calls and it sounds as if Ward was able to find a ride for me [he phoned back to ask my address}.

So I should be able to get there tonight and  I think Gateway is having a 7 am Christmas breakfast at the church so if I am lucky  I may be able to get home at 9 am on a Christmas morning;

Leaving me sc rambling to get back to gateway Sunday and Monday nights around 7:30 pmand home on Monday and Tuesday mornings at 9 am .

Because if I want to end up only a  little deeper in  the hole i cannot  miss any shifts.

When it looked like I might at least be even at the end 2016…..,.. I should have known better\.

At this point it is out of my hands so I am headed to catch [hopefully] at least 2 hours of sleep. Tonight is going to be brutal.
